Welcome

Welcome to our new adjunct professor, Ms. Asa Yoneda, who will join the Japanese program to teach undergraduate classes in translation. Ms. Yoneda holds an MA in Translation and Interpreting from the SOAS at the University of London. We are excited to have her support the growing translation program in Japanese.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Daniela Dal Pra for being named Interim Director of Film Studies. She will serve as director and advisor for the program in Spring 2024, and through the Academic Year 2024-25. 

Congratulations also to Daniela Dal Pra, for being invited by the America-Italy Society and the Italian Consulate of Philadelphia to give a presentation entitled “Venice as a Fish.”

Matteo Di Michele is a global technology and operations executive with 20 years of international experience across a variety of functions such as law, supply chain management, environmental sustainability, and artificial intelligence. He published Artificial Intelligence: Ethics – Risks – Opportunities in 2023.

Please let me know by Monday, January 29 whether you would like me to send your name forward to the Dean’s office. The work would take place during the Spring 2024 semester and be completed well before the semester ends so that recommendations can be included for the faculty development program that will take place in May.

Please announce to your students that the Conversation Partners Program is offering them opportunities to practice the languages they are learning with native speakers in this informal setting.  Meetings are on Wednesdays from 12 PM – 1 PM in CHHS 278.
